Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re wondering whether this is right for you or how it all works - these might help.
-
I know the distress this is causing you, I have felt it in my bones. You’re not imagining it. It’s not nothing. I can’t tell you why your baby is crying, but I trust that you have the answers within you. I will be present for you through this process of working out what your baby needs, while you hold space for them.
-
Bonding happens when you can attune to your baby’s experience and trust yourself to meet their needs. As a doula who helps you understand your baby, if you choose the Postpartum Processing Support package, I specifically help you develop this attunement - especially if your baby is showing signs of processing their birth.
For clients who book Birth Preparation or full Birth Support in Hampshire, the work we do to restore your self-trust naturally supports bonding. And you can always add postpartum mental health support if you need additional help after birth.
-
Moving past birth trauma starts with having someone witness your story without judgement or minimisation. Together, we walk through what happened - I hold gentle space for you to talk through what’s on your heart and help you make sense of the things that unfolded.
For some mothers, this processing work within our sessions is enough. For others, more formal therapy is needed, and I can help you identify what type of support would work best and connect you with the right professionals.

I know asking this question means you’ve been through something that shook you deeply. And yes - you absolutely can learn to trust yourself again.
But first, you need to hear this: your body didn’t fail you. It repeated patterns that once served to protect you.
When you understand this - really understand it - the self-blame starts to lift. As a maternal mental health doula offering birth planning with trauma support, I help you see why you responded the way you did, practice attunement to your own signals, and rebuild trust from the ground up.
You’ll learn that reclaiming your authority doesn’t come at the cost of your connection to the support around you - you can trust yourself and stay in relationship. One does not exclude the other.
The preparation work we do creates a foundation, and birth becomes an opportunity to practice nurturing self-trust for birth when it matters most. Self-trust isn’t one big decision - it’s built through small moments of listening to yourself and watching yourself follow through. We’ll practice this together.

I can’t guarantee outcomes - no one can. Birth is unpredictable, and sometimes medical intervention is necessary.
What I can offer as a doula who understands birth trauma is continuous emotional support, advocacy for your choices, and birth planning with trauma support - helping you stay connected to yourself even when circumstances change. Trauma often happens when someone feels unsafe, unheard, or powerless - not necessarily because of what happened medically, but because of how they were treated during it.
My role is to help you feel respected, informed, and supported throughout - which significantly reduces the risk of trauma, even when birth doesn’t go as planned.
-
I support you however and wherever you choose to birth. And I believe deeply in helping you understand birth physiology and tune into your intuition - because when women truly listen to their bodies, they often discover they feel safest in familiar, undisturbed environments.
For many women, that means home. For others, it means hospital. My role is to help you with intuitive decision-making in birth and nurturing self-trust for birth - discerning what YOUR intuition is telling you (versus what fear, pressure or conditioning is telling you), then support whatever choice emerges from that clarity.
If you birth in hospital, I’ll be there advocating for your choices that honour you and your baby, the same as as if you are birthing at home. What matters is that the choice is truly yours.

While most of my clients are preparing for a second or subsequent birth after a difficult first experience, I also work with first-time mothers who want to foster connection and birth consciously from the start.
